The Adams County Farmers Market is pleased to welcome some new friends from the Stitch 'N Peace Quilt Guild. The Quilt Guild will be set up at the farmers market with educational resources and information about their quilting group.
Some history about Stitch 'N Peace Quilt Guild:
Stitch ‘n Peace quilt guild was founded in January 1997 by Ann Holte, owner of the former Gettysburg Quilting Center. 2022 will mark the 25th anniversary of the guild which has grown in size from 15 members to over 70 members. Stitch ‘n Peace is a teaching group. Our mission statement is 'to honor quilting by each one, teach one.'
In keeping with our mission, Stitch ‘N Peace members often provide instruction on quilting techniques for other members of the guild. Occasionally the guild enjoys lectures or classes by well-known quilters and quilt artists.
The guild is committed to giving back to the community and donates many quilts or sewn items each year to a variety of community organizations. Over the years those organizations included Habitat for Humanity, Homeless Shelter, Survivors, SpiriTrust Lutheran Village, baby and toddler quilts for a number of child-focused organizations, Tender Care Pregnancy Center, and Hoffman Homes. The guild has made pillow covers for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy infusions, walker caddies for nursing home residents and placemats for Meals on Wheels.
