Tuckey's Mountain Berries and Bakery

Our 115 acre farm is in Northern Adams County where my Dad(Kevin) and I work together and where my grandpa and great-grandpa farmed as well. We grow a full line of fruits, vegetables, berries, and cut flowers. Some of the favorites at the market are our red ripe strawberries and black raspberries. Folks tell us you can't beat our PF24 peaches and they look more like a small cantaloupe; they are BIG peaches. After peaches are over in late September we have already picked our Honeycrisp and Gala apples as well as other kinds like Cortland, Jonagold, and Summer rambo.
Customer at the market like are our tomatoes. No matter what the amount - two tomatoes or two bushels - we can supply you with vine ripened fruit. As well as red tomatoes, we have yellow, green and some heirloom varieties. One last favorite at the markets is our fresh cut flowers. We do mostly dahlias and zinnias and they are gorgeous. It is hard to believe some of the colors that we find.
A few new things for this year (2009) is that we are putting up a high tunnel to grow tomatoes in. This will allow us to have fresh tomatoes grown in the soil by early june. Being grown in the ground will allow the tomatoes to have a better flavor than the greenhouse-grown tomatoes avalible at that time. We also are planting some blackberry plants this spring as well as purple asparagus. We are growing shallots and garlic for the first time this year as well as several types of asian greens, collards and kale. We are also growing some new types of sweet potatoes. Some have purple skin with white flesh and some have white skin with purple flesh. These new types are said to be sweeter but we will also have the old favorites, white skin with white flesh and orange skin with orange flesh.
